Our Approach

ISW has distilled a simple, easily taught, engaging way of learning how things work – a most elemental inner physics that lives within, and shapes, each and all of us. These include honesty, collaborative leadership, radical sufficiency, presence, service, creativity, adaptability, generosity, and intuition.

Our principles are ancient and proven, drawing on the land, culture, history, nature and experience that informs our work: the self-governance of 400-year-old acequias (community operated irrigation system); traditional native pueblo leadership; grassroots, volunteer-driven, barn-raising, micro-granting networks that have grown and served people and their communities for generations throughout rural northern New Mexico.
